On 14th Feb 2024, the MST Junior School community was honored to host Rev. Fr. Peter Kavuma from Kisubi Seminary on the occasion of Ash Wednesday. The event, held in the school’s chapel, served as a profound reminder of the significance of this solemn day in the Christian calendar.
During his address, Rev. Fr. Kavuma delivered a heartfelt message, urging learners, teachers, and staff alike to use the Lenten season as a time for spiritual reflection and growth. He emphasized the importance of prayer, fasting, and reaching out to those who are less fortunate as integral practices during this period of preparation for Easter.
“With the start of Lent today, we are reminded of the call to renew our faith and strengthen our relationship with God,” remarked Rev. Fr. Kavuma. “Through prayer and fasting, we can deepen our spiritual connection and find solace in His grace. But let us not forget the essence of reaching out to our brothers and sisters in need, embodying the true spirit of love and compassion.”
The presence of Rev. Fr. Kavuma resonated deeply with the MST community, fostering a sense of unity and purpose as they embarked on their Lenten journey together. Learners were particularly moved by his words, expressing a renewed commitment to living out the values of empathy and kindness in their daily lives.
“I feel inspired to make a difference in the world around me,” shared one student. “Rev. Fr. Kavuma’s message reminded me of the importance of helping others and showing compassion to those who may be struggling.”
As the MST community enters into this season of reflection and self-examination, the words of Rev. Fr. Peter Kavuma serve as a guiding light, illuminating the path toward spiritual growth and renewal.
In addition to Rev. Fr. Kavuma’s remarks, the Headteacher of MST Junior School, Mr. Kamya Cephus, emphasized the significance of incorporating spiritual practices into the school’s ethos. “We are grateful for the wisdom and guidance offered by Rev. Fr. Kavuma today. As a school, we are committed to nurturing not only the academic but also the spiritual development of our learners. This season of Lent provides us with a valuable opportunity to reinforce the values of compassion, empathy, and community service.”
Similarly, the School Director, Dr. Emma Naluyima, commended the MST community for their receptive attitude towards Rev. Fr. Kavuma’s message. “It is heartening to see our students and staff come together in reflection and prayer on this special day. As we journey through Lent, let us keep in mind the importance of selflessness and reaching out to those in need. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on the world around us.”
As the MST community enters into this season of reflection and self-examination, the words of Rev. Fr. Peter Kavuma, alongside the sentiments expressed by the Head Teacher and Our Director, serve as a guiding light, illuminating the path toward spiritual growth and renewal.
MST Junior School extends its gratitude to Rev. Fr. Kavuma for his visit and profound insights, and looks forward to embracing the journey of Lent with faith, hope, and compassion.
