Q: Could you share a bit about your journey in education leading to your role as Headteacher at MST Junior School?
A: Certainly. My name is KAMYA CEPHUS, and I’ve dedicated my career to education. I began my training at Entebbe Primary Teachers College after high school, focusing on becoming a Grade 3 teacher. From there, I taught at Good Daddy Parents School in Kireka, where I also headed the Mathematics department. Furthering my education, I pursued a Diploma in Education at Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi, followed by serving as Director of Studies at All Saints Junior School before eventually becoming the Headteacher. My quest for knowledge led me to earn a Bachelor of Education for primary level from Uganda Martyrs University. For the past 12 years, I’ve been privileged to lead Hormisdallen School Kamwokya, and now I’m honored to serve as the Headteacher at MST Junior School.
Q: What is your vision for MST Junior School, and how do you plan to make it effective?
A: My vision for MST Junior School is centered around elevating its standards, particularly in science and technology, essential for success in today’s world. I’m committed to fostering academic excellence within the school community.
Q: How do you intend to inspire both learners and staff to achieve academic success?
A: Encouraging continuous professional growth among our staff is paramount. Just as I’ve pursued further education, I motivate our teachers to upgrade their qualifications. Similarly, I instill a love for learning in our learners, emphasizing the importance of education in shaping their future achievements.
Q: What strategies do you believe are essential for fostering a positive and inclusive school culture?
A: Training our staff and allocating time for learner engagement in science and technology initiatives are key components of fostering an inclusive culture at MST Junior School. By embracing programs like ICT and farming, we create an environment where every learner feels valued and motivated to learn.
Q: How do you plan to support the personal and academic development of learners at MST Junior School?
A: We’ve developed a comprehensive work plan that balances practical and theoretical learning, ensuring each learner has the opportunity to excel. Adhering to this plan and collaborating with our dedicated staff are essential for learner development.
Q: Do you have any programs you wish to implement to enhance learners’ learning experience further?
A: Sports and games play a vital role in holistic development, alongside academics and technology. By emphasizing these activities, we aim to nurture well-rounded individuals capable of excelling in various aspects of life.
