MST is consistently ranked among the fastest growing co-educational day and boarding schools in the country. It is currently ranked one of the top nationwide growing schools with added value to the student’s National curriculum.
MST, was founded in 2010 by Mr Mugerwa and Dr Naluyima Emma, and a pioneering group of committed teachers and parents, remains true to its values and to the continuous development of its core competence: teaching and learning. The school strives to create a learning environment that is child-centred, child developmental, skills focused, international in perspective, engaging, active and critical. Its ways of working are democratic and decentralized. The school celebrates student and teacher-led initiatives and values creativity, excellence and a social conscience. MST’s aim is to add value to students whilst pursuing primary education so that they can set up sustaining and developmental projects that will further their existence and growth at a personal level. That’s why they focus on Agricultural education and technology awareness and development at an early stage.
MST recognizes that each student learns differently and that these differences must be acknowledged and supported. The school’s counseling Team and Learning Support Laboratory have proven expertise in addressing these differences. Members of the school’s outstanding counseling Team routinely conduct research and present papers at national and international conferences.
MST believes that developing a sense of community and a social conscience lie at the very heart of education. The school’s community service program includes a project where seniors provide educational support to lower class students. Pupils of the school have also recently become involved with local school competitions in subjects of science, social studies, mathematics and English.
Another of the school’s enduring commitments is to the creative and performing arts. We believe that art, music and drama are not extra-curricular at all but an entitlement of all students and, profoundly related to learning. The school’s innovative Creative Arts Department has produced critically acclaimed plays, musicals and concerts. More importantly, this incredibly talented department has led several initiatives to integrate the creative arts into several other parts of the curriculum. The result has been the creation of riveting learning experiences that have proved invaluable for students.
MST has repeatedly demonstrated its commitment to the liberal arts and humanities. Thanks to Dr. Naluyiima, questioning conventional wisdom is common in our classrooms. The school is equally committed to excellence in sciences and mathematics.
Teachers are the school’s most valuable resource. MST’s emphasis on the professional development of its faculty is legendary. Ten days in a year are devoted to in-service training, reflection and review of current practice. Dedicated time is made available, every week, to meet, plan and prepare. The school offers teachers opportunities to update their skills in institutions in Uganda with prospects of taking them abroad for further enlightment.
